Job Description:
URS Asia Pacific is one of the largest Environmental and Engineering design firms worldwide. Presently URS Asia Pacific is seeking a Senior Principal Environmental Scientist to lead our Terrestrial Division. Based at the Perth office, this position seeks applications from dynamic individuals with proven experience in the Environment sector. To be successful you must have 10-15 years industry experience and be ready to join a fast paced and well renowned global consultancy. Position Summary This position is for a Senior Principal Environmental Scientist with at least fifteen years of experience in the environmental assessment and management of a range of projects, including mining and mineral processing. The successful candidate will join the Terrestrial Environmental Services Group and play a significant role in formulating the strategic direction of the group. Work will include managing or directing environmental impact assessments, development of environmental management and monitoring plans, rehabilitation and closure planning, environmental auditing, stakeholder engagement and environmental reporting. This work will be for projects in the mining and mineral processing, oil and gas, infrastructure and waste management sectors, or other sectors as required. An important part of this role is business development. A Senior Principal Environmental Scientist is also expected to gain repeat business, develop business with new clients and conduct cross-selling of URS services. Responsibilities/Objectives General Characteristics ? Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognised as authoritative and have a far-reaching impact on extensive scientific and discipline-related activities of the
Company. ? Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level staff and officers of other organisations and companies. ? Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organising and guiding extensive engineering programs and activities of outstanding novelty and importance. ? Is typically focused on the local market and identifying major environmental impact assessments in the resources industry. ? Possesses a large list of contacts and has an extensive network in the Western Australian resources industry. Duties and Responsibilities ? Formulates strategies for resolving problems of exceptional difficulty and marked importance to the organisation or industry. ? Addresses problems that are characterised by their lack of scientific precedents and source materials, or lack of success of prior research and analysis, so that their solutions would represent advances of great significance and importance. ? Performs advisory and consulting work for the organisation as a recognised authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialised area of considerable novelty and importance. ? Serves as the technical specialist for the Terrestrial Environmental Services Group. ? Effectively supports marketing efforts; brings in new work as a result of client relationships, technical expertise, past performance, reputation, contacts, etc. ? Mentors junior staff. ?
