Minimum Requirements :
URS has an immediate opening for a Staff Environmental Scientist with a minimum of 2 years environmental consulting experience with familiarity in transportation and security regulations applied to air and ground cargo in the United States and internationally. The qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field with experience in regulatory review and interpretation, development and implementation of training programs, database analyses, and report preparation. The applicant must have a valid driver's license and car and be able to drive throughout the region for client related projects. The position requires travel by plane outside the region to support client work in other locations (local, national, and international) on occasion (25% estimated travel time). 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual refreshers required. Applicants should be highly self-motivated and comfortable with public speaking. Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point; organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel.

Job Description :
The Staff Scientist/Engineer will assist with the development and implementation of HAZMAT transportation and security programs for multiple clients. We seek a team-oriented individual with experience in HAZMAT transportation and security and applicable DOT regulations. Responsibilities also include teaching and development of training classes, drafting standard operating procedures, design of program elements in multimedia, management of databases and web based applications and client/regulatory agency interaction. A focus on Safety is critical for both URS and URS's client. The type of skills necessary include: ability to direct support staff, management of subcontractors; long-term commitment to the successful completion of a challenging project; public speaking, and strong writing skills. The candidate will need to represent URS and URS's clients in a positive manner in a variety of settings, both formal and informal, including but not limited to training events, conferences and trade shows. ::
