Job Description :
Position Summary The position supports the Melbourne office of URS Australia Pty Ltd and wider URS national and international businesses through the provision of client relationship management, project management and administration, oversight of engineering design and construction, business development and marketing of engineering consulting services in remediation and clean-up of contaminated land. The Project Manager will be based in Melbourne and occasionally regionally in Australia and potentially overseas. The PM will work under the strategic direction of the Regional Manager - Vic/Tas of URS Melbourne and closely with colleagues with the objective of delivering high quality consulting and project management services to URS clients. The position's major responsibilities are coordination and scheduling, technical oversight, financial administration and contract management of site remediation projects. Additional tasks include contributions to URS Melbourne's broader corporate goals, contributing to the meeting of business goals for the office's GEM and Petroleum Work Groups and the participation in business development activities through the preparation of tenders and proposals. Responsibilities/Objectives Services To support the provision of URS Melbourne consulting services in the following areas: Project Management . In association with the senior staff of the GEM and Petroleum Work Groups, and/or Project Directors, prepare and ensure adherence to project-specific Project Management Plans; . Ensure all project staff, sub-consultants and sub-contractors comply with Client, URS and any other legal or contractual requirements; . In association with the Project Directors, prepare and ensure adherence to project-specific Occupational Health & Safety Plans; be seen as a leader in safe work practices; . Prepare project-specific schedules and resourcing plans, regularly review and revise such schedules as required, communicate work progress with Clients, and in consultation with senior staff of the GEM and Petroleum Work Groups and/or Project Directors, manage day-to-day operations of the project team to comply with agreed milestones; . Communicate regularly with project office staff to ensure URS' business management and quality assurance procedures are maintained; . Maintain effective team and client relationships and communications; . Respond in a timely and flexible manner to changing client needs; . Develop a clear understanding of project commitments, deliverables and timing. Technical Oversight . senior Project Management of site remediation feasibility studies, remediation action plans and detailed engineering design, ability to oversee and scope conceptual engineering design and detailed design, and take on responsibility for meeting of project objectives; overall quality of work and project budgets and timelines; . as project manager, oversee the project team's preparation of technical reports, HAZANS, engineering drawings and technical specifications of high calibre; . assess construction feasibility of proposed pilot testing and full-scale site remediation works; advise on optimising remediation designs to facilitate construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance; . prepare engineering cost estimates for site remediation capital works and O&M phases; . advise on identification, assessment, selection and procurement of specialist equipment, sub-consultants and sub-contractors; . communicate remediation feasibility study findings to URS staff, clients, regulatory agencies and to the community; . prepare tenders and proposals as Proposal Manager/Proposal Director; . take a leadership role in workgroup initiatives including assisting with technical activities; . provide project management training/mentoring for junior professional staff; . participate in contract negotiations with Client and project team; and . perform other related duties from time to time, provided that they are consistent with your skills, competencies and expertise. Accounts and Finance . in compliance with URS business management and accounting systems, establish and maintain financial recording and control systems for remediation projects . provide Client with periodic expenditure-to-project analyses and estimates-to-complete projections . prepare and review job setup in URS accounting system . check and submit regular Client invoices Administration and Operations Management . monitor milestone progress to ensure all milestones are met on time and according to contract; . maintain all project files, both hard and electronic; . prepare tenders, purchase orders, specifications and procure equipment in Australia. Reporting . prepare (where required), check and finalise reports, including ensure report content matches Client/consultant contract requirements; . Ensure timely compliance with reporting requirements to Client and advise promptly of any delays in writing. Client Relations . Initiate first contact and maintain regular contact with Client . Maintain contact with Project partners Business Development . Assist with the expansion of URS Melbourne's business with selected clients in target sectors, including coordination and assistance with the preparation of proposals.
