Minimum Requirements :
BS or Associates degree in Engineering/ Environmental Science/Geology required in addition to a minimum of 20 years of steel industry experience, working or have worked at several process areas and guidance with field investigations. Position requires a thorough understanding of the safety culture at steel mills, and must a working knowledge of dig permits, lock out and tag out procedures, communication with control room, and check in and out procedures. Ability to perform soils and ground water sampling, and writing field reports is also required. Candidate must also have a minimum of 10 years experience managing a small group, and strong leadership skills in the area of development of and mentorship of staff, effective communications, and team-building. Must also be experienced in managing drillers and contractors to work safely, and complying with the requirements of the scope of work so that re-work is not required. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft.
Job Description :
This position will be responsible for conducting and supervising sampling soils and ground water, preparing SAPs, and providing support to respective Project Managers. Will also provide support for field sampling activities and report and workplans preparation in the office. This position is a part of the Environmental Group working mainly for US Steel Corrective Action projects, and will report to the Client Account Manager, but will also work with different Project Managers to support the overall project. Position will interact with the client at the site and with other departments within the office, i.e., planning and development, and due diligence groups.
