Position Summary URS Corporation is one of the world's leading engineering and environmental consultancies offering investigative, planning, design and construction phase services across a variety of sectors including infrastructure, water, mining and dams. Our Geotechnical team has a strong reputation for innovation and expertise in earth dam design, underground structures, foundations, risk assessment, slope stabilisation, remedial works design and soft ground engineering. The Principal Geotechnical Engineer will be involved in a variety of large scale projects and provide strong management and technical expertise to the Geotechnical engineering business unit of URS, North Sydney office in the fields of geotechnical investigations and design documentation of tunnels, road pavement and slope stabilities. In addition, the role will involve business development, project management, proposal preparation and winning works plus the expectation of growing and managing a group of geotechnical engineers and geologists. Responsibilities / Objectives • Manage the delivery of projects to meet time, quality and budgetary targets, whilst meeting or exceeding Clients' expectations. • Market the company's services through meetings with Clients, bid and proposal preparation, superior service, and general promotional activities. • Lead the growth of the geotechnical engineering service to meet NSW current and future business plan objectives. • Take an active role in the business development of the company services and in particular the geotechnical engineering services. • Provide leadership and technical advice to the URS team members and close liaison and co-operation with the other Principals. • Assist with the development of the geotechnical engineering service group through by providing leadership, winning work, and the provision of technical advice and expertise in the field of civil geotechnical engineering. • Present a positive attitude and role for URS at all times, through meetings and interactions with clients, subcontractors and competitors, and in the completion and delivery of projects. • Prepare and manage proposal bids and projects delivery to high level standards. • Seek opportunities and encourage work with other URS offices. • Coach and supervise staff and be accountable for teamwork and staff development and mentor staff in undertaking technical work. • Contribute to the operation of the office on a continual basis and show initiative in raising issues and seeking solutions Reporting Relationships • Unit Manager - GEMM
