Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in transportation or civil engineering. Minimum of 15 years experience in transit planning (corridor and alternatives analysis) and or transit design. Ability to manage and perform transit planning projects from planning, preliminary engineering and final plans. Successful Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and in presentations to diverse groups. As a project manager and business development leader, the person in this position will need to have the necessary skills to work with others, including subordinates, in a professional manner which will lead to completion of projects. Successful candidate must have the ability to identify data collection requirements that are appropriate for the project, analyze the data and develop conclusions consistent with client expectations and professionalism. Knowledge of the Federal Transit Administration's regulatory requirements is essential for project development and implementation. Solid decision-making and team building skills are essential for this position. The ability to coordinate talent located in other URS offices is important for this position and for future growth within the Regional Business Unit (RBU), which includes Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. As a project manager, the position will be responsible for profit/loss and operating budgets at the project level. This will require the successful candidate to perform as a Certified Project Manager. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint for report, proposal and presentation production. Microstation or AutoCad for design also required.

This position and business line will augment existing and diverse transportation business lines operating in the State of Michigan. With over 100 staff members in all areas of transportation engineering and planning, an opportunity exists to leverage existing resources and expand into the growing transit market, which will ultimately serve the entire RBU. Successful Candidate will lead business development of transit and rail projects within the RBU as well as major projects. The position will be responsible for initiating and maintaining key client contacts in order to obtain work and in the course of project management. In the course of business development activities, the position will lead the preparation of proposals, including developing teaming relationships with other firms. Project management activities will also be performed in accordance with URS's project management practices. In addition to working with other discipline leaders in the Michigan Offices, the success of this position depends on the candidates ability to work with and coordinate work products with staff located in offices where URS has established expertise in transit planning and engineering. This position will report to the business line leader the majority of the time. If the position is part of a team lead by another project manager, then the position reports to the project manager for a particular project.
