Minimum Requirements :
BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Requires a minimum of 3 years experience environmental consulting, with an emphasis on waste management activities. CHMM registration desired. 40-Hr OSHA training (may be acquired after hire).
Strong understanding of RCRA and DOT regulations.
Demonstrated experience with the following:
development of written waste management plans
performing waste determinations,coordinating disposal facility profiling and acceptance, contract administration of vendors.
Must be proficient with MS Office programs(Excel, Word, Access).
Position requires effective time-management, written communications skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Successful candidate will be articulate with professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills. Previous experience with soil and groundwater remediation projects is preferred.
Job Description :
This position will be part of the Waste Management Network. The team, which is responsible for management and coordination of waste related activities, consists of approximately 5 team members ranging in experience from one to twenty years. This position will report to the Waste Management Network Manager. This position will provide support for waste management activities for multiple environmental projects through all phases of the typical life cycle of a site. Some sites will require a waste classification of the waste stream, while others may require updates to existing profiles. As new areas of sites are remediated, work plans for managing the potential waste stream will need to be developed. As a waste management specialist the individual will be required to work with the client's procurement group to set up new work orders or purchase orders with approved vendors for treatment and disposal of various wastes. After completion of the project, the individual will manage project disposal records and assist with required reporting to over site agencies.
Tasks will include activities focused on waste management for Superfund, RCRA Corrective Action, RCRA Closure, and UST sites

This position reports to the waste management network manager, but will work under the supervision of the appropriate project manager. Position will interact with both clients (routinely) and Regulatory agencies such as the EPA (occasionally). Will also interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within URS. Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists. The individual must be familiar with federal and state waste management programs; experience with hazardous, universal, TSCA, and solid wastes; knowledge of DOT shipping regulations; and knowledge of beneficial re-use and recycling.
