Minimum Requirements :
BS in Civil Engineering. Minimum 10 years experience, with emphasis on structural design for waterfront structures of various types, to include piers, wharves, craneways, submerged structures, berthing systems (dolphins, fender piles, fendering devices, etc.) and floating structures. Requires working knowledge of SAP 2000, STAAD, RISA, concept of "push-over" analysis and other structural analysis softwares. Licensed Professional Engineer in California and Western states.
Job Description :
The candidate will be working on the planning and design of new and/or retrofit of various waterfront structures. Will be preparing calculations, sketches, marking-up drawings and interacting with drafters and designers, and other engineers. Estimates engineering/design labor hours; develop and manage project data such as cost estimates, specifications, and schedule. On specific projects, applicant would be both the design engineer as well as the project engineer, working directly with the client/s. The candidate is expected to use education, intelligence and knowledge of construction methods to resolve the engineering problems and tasks assigned. Candidate will work on the design of waterfront structures, marinas, and other public and private projects. Must be able to communicate with Clients and other team members effectively. Must be able to write clear and concise reports. The Huntington Beach office is not departmentalized. Teams are formed for each project and the number of team members and area of expertise will depend on the size of the project. The team could include designers, engineers, and architect. The candidate will supervise other engineers on projects where he is the lead engineer. Applicant would be responsible for training other in-house engineers, as well as in a role to interview new candidates and expand the waterfront group. The candidate will report to the Ports and Harbors Market Segment Leader. This position can grow into Principal Engineer leading to Project Manager.
